Songs of Youth 4: California Lullaby (1998) by Mark Feezell, Ph.D.

Songs of Youth is a cycle of seven songs for baritone or bass and marimba. A five-octave, concert grand marimba is preferred, but the songs may also be performed on a quality four-octave marimba. Performers may elect to perform INDIVIDUAL SONGS independenly or the entire cycle in sequence (approximately 19-23 minutes). Most of the marimba writing is admittedly not appropriate for a beginner. Even the fourth song, though not technically challenging, is musically demanding. All songs except fo...

Song for Jill for baritone, alto, and piano (1996) by Mark Feezell, Ph.D.

Listen to the MP3 to get an idea of what "Song for Jill" sounds like. I composed this piece for my wife, and it was premiered on July 13, 1996, our wedding day. It is appropriate as worshipful special music during a wedding service. If you want to use it in another wedding, you may list the title as "Your Golden Heart." Please let me know if you choose to perform this piece....

The serpent appears, Adam and Eve succumb to his evil influence, and God banishes them from the Garden of Eden....
