Congratulations on a wonderful piece of music.
Mr. Eastwood, this is a very fine piece. I've been playing it off and on all afternoon, and enjoying sounds and polyphony that seem to me to be reminiscent--though certainly not imitative--of Alexander Scriabin. At the same time, I've been delighted to see how accessible such an advanced work can be. I congratulate you on this superb small work, and hope that you will compose more for the piano.

Come into my world!
I have to confess that this present appraisal is based on the .mp3 file of the piece - and wow! This is my first review since joining SibeliusMusic.com, having not really come across any pieces that made me sit up, and I feel that "Acclivity" is by aeons more than worthy of any of the inadequate words I have to offer. The harmonic and idiomatic soundworld in which this piece inhabits is so expertly explored and crafted. Yes, we can argue that there is a nod towards the French Impressionist school but "Acclivity" sounds uncommonly fresh yet unpretentious; novel yet accessible; subtle yet disarming. An absolute gem of a piece! CRT

Finally! Not another stupid arrangement on this website! There is counterpoint here, there is craft. Very much in line with a french tradition; debussy estampes #2 is what it reminds me of. The mp3 was a joy to listen to, thank you for this.
